Template — not legal advice. This document covers the disclosures a lead-generation site in this vertical typically needs, but it is a starting point for a privacy attorney, not a substitute for one. Replace every [BRACKETED] value, delete anything that does not describe what you actually do, and have it reviewed before launch. Publishing a policy that misdescribes your practices is itself a violation.
Solar Edge Help is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("we," "us"). We are a lead-generation service, not a solar installer. We collect information from homeowners interested in residential solar and introduce them to licensed solar companies who prepare quotes and perform installations.
This policy describes what we collect through [DOMAIN], how we use it, and who we share it with. It does not cover what our partners do with your information once they receive it — each partner operates under its own privacy policy, linked from our marketing partners page.
We do not collect Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, or credit information through this site.
Solar companies. We share the information you submit with up to [NUMBER] of the companies named on our marketing partners page. This is the core purpose of the service, and it is disclosed to you before you submit.
Service providers. Companies that operate infrastructure on our behalf: hosting, database, email delivery, consent certification (ActiveProspect), and analytics. They may process your information only to provide those services to us.
Legal. Where required by law, subpoena, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
Business transfer. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy continuing to apply.
Because we are compensated by solar companies when we introduce you to them, sharing your information with those companies may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under California and other state privacy laws. See Your privacy rights below.
If you check the consent box on our quote form, you provide prior express written consent under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act for us and the companies named on our marketing partners page to contact you at the phone number you provided. That contact may include:
This consent applies even if the number you provided is listed on a federal, state, or corporate Do Not Call registry. Consent is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services. Message and data rates may apply.
We retain the TrustedForm certificate, the disclosure text you agreed to, your IP address, and the timestamp as our record of this consent.
You may withdraw consent at any time, by any reasonable method, including:
We honor withdrawal requests within 10 business days and add your information to an internal suppression list so it is not shared again. We must retain enough information to keep you suppressed — this is why an opt-out does not delete your record entirely unless you also request deletion.
Withdrawing consent with us does not automatically withdraw consent you may have given directly to a partner after they contacted you. You may need to opt out with them separately.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, obtain a copy of it, correct it, delete it, and opt out of its sale or sharing for targeted advertising. States including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, and others provide some or all of these rights.
To exercise any of them, use our request form (select "Delete my information") or email suppor@solarhelp4u.net. We will verify your identity by confirming the phone number or email you originally submitted. We respond within 45 days and will not discriminate against you for exercising a right.
California residents may also designate an authorized agent to make a request. We honor Global Privacy Control browser signals as a valid opt-out of sale or sharing.
| Category | Retention | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Contact and property information | [NUMBER] years from submission | Servicing your request and defending against claims |
| Consent records and TrustedForm certificates | 5 years | The TCPA statute of limitations is 4 years; we retain slightly longer |
| Suppression list entries | Indefinite | We cannot honor a do-not-contact request if we delete the request |
We encrypt data in transit using TLS and at rest in our database, restrict access to personnel who need it, and log access to lead records. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to us.
We use cookies and similar technologies to measure advertising performance and to operate the site. TrustedForm places a script on our form page to create the consent certificate described above. [DESCRIBE ANY ANALYTICS OR ADVERTISING PIXELS YOU USE — e.g. Google Analytics, Meta Pixel — AND LINK THEIR OPT-OUTS.] You can control cookies through your browser settings.
This site is intended for homeowners aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
We update this policy as our practices change. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version. Material changes apply prospectively — they do not change how we handle information collected under a previous version.
